Srijita Bose is an introvert who hails from Kolkata. She explores the beautiful city with her friends during her free time. Srijita is a recent graduate and completed her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Techno India, Kolkata. She looks forward to setting up her own business firm in the future. At Springworks, she started to work as an operations intern in October 2022.
Let’s have a look at her journey!
What do you do as an Operations Intern at Springworks?
As an Operations intern, I work for SpringVerify. Initially, I started to work alongside the cropping team. Where I cropped documents and sent them for background verification. After a few days, I moved towards Data Entry and Background Verification. Recently, I started to initiate background checks on our employees and verify their details.
What made you join Springworks?
I heard about Springworks by word of mouth. My friend told me about the work culture and perks. I always hear a lot of my friends crib about their work, but Hadiqa loves her work and looks forward to her next day. I read about the company and the reviews given by the employees. When I started to look for internship opportunities, I wanted to apply to Springworks. As I wanted to work in a company that would give me opportunities to learn. I had an innate feeling that Springworks would be a great fit for me. I love working here.
What is your favourite thing about working at Springworks?
The work culture is the best. My team is very supportive and everyone in the company appreciates and respects one another. It is incredible to see the guidance I receive from my team to do better. The company provides employees with an opportunity to lead tasks and explore.
How was your Hiring and Onboarding experience?
Interview Process
My friend, Hadiqa, who works at Springworks had given a referral to the hiring team. After applying, I didn’t receive any confirmation mail. I felt a little letdown and started to look for other opportunities. When I looked at my application, I realized I had given the wrong mail address due to which I didn’t hear back from Springworks. I reached out to Hadiqa and applied again. Finally, I received a call from the hiring team. I was really happy. I had a telephonic interview followed by two assignments. Later on, I had my interviews. The interview rounds consisted of a detailed orientation of my work and expectations.
Onboarding & Induction
The Onboarding was a great experience. There were follow-ups and updates on my schedules. The welcome kit is a great addition. I met my buddy and manager before my first day. On my first day, I had my induction with the HR team. Later on, I was introduced to Slack and Keka. Furthermore, I had a meeting with my team. Later in the day, I was oriented on my work and training. Altogether, It was a great process.
Walk us through a day in your life, Srijita
I am a night owl and I am more productive in the evening. I dislike waking up early. To be honest, I wake up 15 minutes prior to my standup call. The standup call is at 09:50 a.m. and I start my day with my team. We discuss work and the tasks that need to be prioritized. I take an hour’s break for lunch and work till 07:00 p.m. After work, I go for a stroll and come back home. Until I fall asleep, I either watch shows on Netflix or read a book.
What is your personal favorite among the two products, EngageWith and Trivia?
EngageWith is a good motivator at work. Appreciation gives an extra push to get work done for the day. On the #gratitude channel, when I see my teammates getting appreciated I feel really happy. I pump myself and try to do better so that I can give my best. I look forward to my next “Kudos” and “Shoutout”. More than Trivia, I like engagement activities that were organised by the board game company. The Diwali activity was a lot of fun and helped me network with other colleagues.
What are your takeaways and challenges you come across at work?
At the start, time management was my biggest concern. I had difficulty balancing my work and prioritizing them. As a fresher, my experience and learnings have been great. I, being an introvert, have learnt how to communicate and network with others. Every day is a new challenge, where I learn something new. Background verification is crucial and I make sure I don’t make errors. Right now, I have two goals in mind, either to work as a consultant or start up my own firm. I am still at a nascent stage and I am yet to plan my future.
Sneak -Peek into your life outside Springworks
I love to read books written by Indian authors. My favourite authors are Chetan Bhagat and Durjoy Dutta. Over the weekends, I explore Kolkata with my friends and also sketch. I also rewatch shows on OTT. Currently, I am rewatching “Game of Thrones”. I always wanted to explore European countries and visit Paris. Hopefully, after work and studies, one would find me taking a tour.
