Life at Springworks: A day in the life of a Finance Executive

Sushma belongs to the Udupi district of Karnataka and joined Springworks in the year 2021 as a Finance Executive. She has a bachelor’s in Business Management and a Master’s in Commerce from Mysore University.

Sushma has worked as an accountant in a construction firm for 7 years and then moved on to work as an account executive in a CA consulting firm for 2 years.

Let’s take a peek into the life of a Finance Executive!

What do you do as a Finance Executive at Springworks?

I am currently taking care of accounts payable of our finances. In simple terms, I update all of the administrative expense bills received in our software. Apart from this, I am taking care of the P&L account, creating EPF accounts, and maintaining professional tax deductions.

What is the one essential skill that one requires to possess to be a Finance Executive?

I would say that it is the basic knowledge of finance! Just make sure that you have your bases cleared about all and everything related to accounting and financial management. Another important thing would be patience. As we deal with such sensitive data and information about the company’s finances, having patience is what helps in keeping the performance of these tasks effectively.

Which is your favourite product amongst our two apps, Trivia & EngageWith?

My favourite application would be Trivia because it is so interactive! Whenever I want to take a little break out of my busy schedule, I am always on the lookout for any game being launched on the #fun channel. It helps in refreshing my mind and concentrating better.

Walk us through a day in the life of Sushma!

I log in to work around 10:00-10:30 am. Nowadays, we are currently migrating to new software for managing our financial records. So my entire day goes into shifting the data from the old platform to the new one. For the last few days, I have uploaded around 300 bills that we have received concerning our expenses incurred for our off-site ticket bookings.

Which is your favorite employee benefit at Springworks?

I would say everything! From health policy to internet expenses. If I had to choose a favourite out of all, it would be for sure the Workation benefit! Having the flexibility to work from anywhere gives us so much freedom. Other than that, work from home allowances is also a silver lining.

What keeps you motivated?

I think the only thing that keeps me motivated is the zest for learning. Understanding and learning about new features in the software that we use for maintaining our financial records is one such example of it.

Sneak-peek into your life outside Springworks!

I love watching movies! Apart from that whenever I feel a little bored I go out shopping.

I am also a music enthusiast, so I really enjoy listening to music and sometimes record a song or two by myself!
