Vinuprasad joined the Springworks team as a product designer in July 2019. Vinu comes with a set of unique skills – UI/UX design, typography, prototyping, Grid System, and Colour Theory. He has an overall six years of professional experience.
Let’s talk to Vinu about his experience in the world of design and his time at Springworks.
What does a Product Designer do?
Product design is the process of identifying a market opportunity, clearly defining the problem, developing a proper solution for that problem, and validating the solution with real users.
As a product designer, my final goal is to create the best version of a requested product, with the times and resources I have at my hand. I have to look for the perfect synchrony between business needs, profitability, and what users are demanding.
As a Product Designer, people (users) should be at the center of all your decisions. You should have a passion for solving the users’ problems as well as enhancing their experience with a product.
Discover and define a problem, then empathetically design the solution.
Being a Product Designer must present a unique set of challenges. How do you go about solving them?
I personally believe that having an open mindset and strong fundamentals can help you sail through any challenge.
A Product Designer covers two wide areas with multiple touchpoints with other profiles within a company: Solving problems and building solutions.
If a product designer can work through the challenges they face, they are more likely to improve users’ experience.
What’s your favorite part of your work?
The favorite part of my work is: User research. It helps in the UX process. When I am stuck somewhere, I take some time to do research.
User research is what makes our approach to understanding users methodical and well-structured. It is a necessary part of creating a user-oriented design for a product.
The user-focused approach helps develop a product through objective results based on how users would actually use it and interact with it.
Also, I love studying industry trends and the features of competitor products/competitors’ product information sheet.
What is the Springworks team like?
Springworks’ product design team is passionate and people appreciate each others’ work here. Each member has a different skill set which enables the team to take on any challenge.
I feel that I am working with professionals that I can learn from and that they will push me to take on new and challenging opportunities. I feel respected and valued for what I bring to the table. I love the open door policy and the flexible schedule.
A great team is like a parachute that you can use when you are about to hit rock bottom.

8:00 AM : Wake up.
8:30 AM: Check Slack and e-mails for urgent messages, if any.
10:00 AM : Breakfast.
10:30 AM: Talk to parents over a phone call.
11:00 AM: Do some office work.
1:15 PM: Have lunch.
1:30 PM: Leave for the office.
2:00 PM: Design standup meeting.
2:30 PM: Start working on daily tasks.
6:00 PM: Make some interview calls.
09:00 PM: Get back home.
09:30 PM: Spend time with friends.
10:30 PM: Dinner.
11:00 PM: Sleep.
What advice do you have for other Product Designers?
You should not complicate development processes. Your role is to ensure a perfect fit between product functionality and design.
Stay focused. Focus is key and it’s actually all about aligning your tastes with the product’s goals.
Always analyze yourself and your work in order to improve your performance. View yourself as others see you and get a realistic understanding of your capabilities as per the perceptions of other people.
