Each day, everyone at Springworks comes into work with a true passion for building products and tools to simplify the lives of hiring and recruiting managers. We are artists, innovators, achievers, and dreamers, with a one-track mind to fine-tune the products that we build on the blockchain, achieving precision. We showcase our team members, their roles, and what a typical day looks like for them through this series of posts. You can check all the posts here.
Sivananda Reddy joined SpringWorks in April 2016. He’s been a part of the team since Springworks was a 20-employee operation. He has seen the company grow over the last four years.
Siva has single-handedly managed payroll for Springworks for a long time. Only recently did two other team members join his team.
If he wasn’t working in finance, Siva says he would either be a Software Engineer or a farmer in his hometown in Andhra Pradesh. Interesting! Isn’t it?
Let’s take a peek into the life of Siva!

What does your job entail?
I handle payroll and taxation, usually keeping track of employee attendance, verifying records, calculating wages, taxes, and adjustments. I perform all wage-related tasks, including transferring salary to the employees on time.
What’s your favorite part of your work?
Other than just doing finance-focused tasks, I am involved in drafting offer letters and sending them to candidates. I also help employees with IT support by raising tickets for their complaints.
I am confident working with numbers, and this job helps me stay organized, logical, and reliable. It also fits well with my temperament.
And when your profession matches your personality, the result is greater career satisfaction. 🙂
What are the challenges you face being a Finance Executive and how do you go about solving them?
To solve freshers’ query is generally a bigger challenge because they are partially aware of the components of their salary structure, so it takes longer to explain things to them. To overcome this challenge, we have switched to an automated Payroll system that employees can leverage anytime to see their salary breakup, taxation details, etc.
Also, Springworks was incorporated in Jul 2017, around the time when GST came into effect. It was challenging for us to understand a whole new process from scratch – GST registration and filing.
The other challenging part is keeping track of the GST council meeting that happens every month to modify, reconcile, or procure any law or regulation based on the context of goods and services tax in India.
Since the income-tax regimes also change every year, it is pertinent to keep track of every small aspect of it.
If you were not working in Finance, where else would you be?
Great question! I’ve given it a thought before. If I wasn’t doing a job as a Finance Executive or pursuing CA, I would probably study coding or work as a farmer in Andhra Pradesh with my family. I’ve been raised on a farm and farming and raising animals has been in my blood.

What is the Springworks team like?
People here are quite approachable and ready to help with all the queries you have. Also, to make WFH a comfortable experience, the company provided reimbursement for WFH Setup. The company’s culture of recognition and team spirit keeps things lively and motivated.
What advice would you give to other Finance Executives?
Don’t restrict yourself to only a few tasks but explore other aspects of your work as well. I like to get involved in other responsibilities as well.
