Pawan Kumar joined the Springworks team in December 2019 as a content Marketer.

Pawan comes up with a unique skillset – content writing, blogging, email marketing, social media marketing, copywriting, SEO, Google Adwords, and sales email copy creation. He has an overall six years of professional experience.

According to Pawan, “Explaining my job to family and friends who don’t work in media is a nightmare.” 😀 

Today, he’s sharing his day as a content marketer. So, you won’t have to ask him that question again… or until you get through the interview. 😉

What does a Content Marketer do?

The ultimate goal of a content marketer is to generate leads for a business and nurture potential customers through the sales funnel (if the company is B2B). To get it done, you rely heavily on content. Therefore, tasks related to content make up a huge part of the day for a content marketing manager.

As a content marketer, my work includes:

  • Content creation.
  • Editorial calendar planning.
  • Generating content ideas.
  • Content strategy.
  • Blog management.
  • Content curation.
  • Managing freelance writers and interns.
  • Editing content.
  • Content distribution.
  • Creating and sending email campaigns.
  • Guest posting.
  • Updating old content.
  • Content repurposing.
  • Ebook creation.

I love my job as a content marketer because the content is the core of any business. As Seth Godin said:

“Content Marketing is all the Marketing that’s left.”

Being a Content Marketer must present a unique set of challenges. How do you go about solving them? 

The no.1 challenge of any content marketer is: How can I create content that the audience wants to read and encourage them to subscribe to?

It takes a lot of research to find the content ideas relevant to our audience. I use some amazing ways to find evergreen content ideas: Buzzsumo, Answer The Public, Quora Questions, and Google Auto Suggestions.

In terms of getting traffic, I share the blog posts on social media channels, answering relevant Quora questions, and send the newsletters to subscribers. I also repurpose the blog posts into other content forms, such as Infographic and Slideshare presentation. I also write articles on reputed publications and blogs to get quality backlinks.

What’s your favorite part of your work?

As my LinkedIn bio reads, “I bleed content.” I love creating content and distributing it. I love the feeling that my content is creating brand awareness and drives traffic to our website. My work makes some difference and adds value to the company.

I love all three pillars of my job: Research, Creation, and Distribution.

I also love creating email marketing strategies, email newsletters, and analyzing. I keep doing some growth hacks that can generate potential leads to our business.

What is the Springworks team like?

The best thing about the Springworks team is: Everyone is ready to help each other, and the workplace environment is positive.

I have the freedom to experiment and fail and still support my actions. We have been asked for an opinion on a regular basis, and we are allowed to speak our minds without fear. I have the freedom to think outside the box and have all my thoughts considered.

The people at this company are a pleasure to work with and make it enjoyable to come to work. And I’m paid well too 🙂

5:00 AM: Wake up.

5:30 AM: Exercise for 30 minutes.

7:00 AM: Work on my personal blog.

8:00 AM: Have my breakfast.

8:30 AM: Start my office work. Send a to-do list and check emails and messages.

10:00 AM: Take Bath

5:00 PM: Finish my work and logout.

5:30 PM: Play cricket with my friends.

8:00 PM: Have dinner.

8:30 PM: Read a book.

10:00 PM: Go to bed.

What advice do you have for other Content Marketers?

One of the most effective ways of spreading brand awareness and attracting potential leads to a business is content marketing.

Here’s my best advice for my fellow content marketers:

  • Your content should have a clear and measurable goal. Take some time to think about what type of pieces fit into your marketing strategy.
  • Repurpose your content in different forms. It allows you to reach a new audience.
  • Use some latest industry data and stats to back up your arguments.
  • Spend a good amount of time on the distribution part.
  • Guest posting is an amazing way to get more people familiar with your brand and gain authority links.
  • Republish your blog posts to Medium. 

And I’ll leave you with a great quote by Avinash Kaushik:
