So, you need to know how to use Slack notifications wisely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This article will help you become a Slack notification master. And you have to create a healthy work-life balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slack has a solution: <strong>Do Not Disturb feature.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you turn on the DND mode, Slack stops sending you notifications. Set your Slack notification schedule<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Slack allows you to set a Do Not Disturb schedule for a set block of time or your non-working hours. Once you set your schedule, it will automatically turn on Do Not Disturb mode during that period. You can send them messages but wait for their response.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If something truly urgent comes up, you can click \u201cclick here\u201d to push notification through. Use custom Status to let people know when you\u2019re not around<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need to focus on some task, or you\u2019re only away from your computer for a short while, you\u2019ll probably want to let your colleagues know it\u2019s for a good reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A custom status feature is a perfect way to do this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just a simple line or an icon can be enough for your colleagues to understand where you are or what you\u2019re up to before sending you a message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use this feature to let your team know that you\u2019re on a call, out for lunch, commuting, dog walking, taking a nap, or in a meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your status will appear right next to your name so everyone can see it at a glance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just look in the upper left corner of Slack to find your <strong>login name<\/strong>, and click on it. From here, choose <strong>Set a status<\/strong>. Integrate your Google Calendar with Slack to update your status<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Integrate your Google calendar with Slack to easily update your Status.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Install the Google Calendar app in Slack, then switch to it using the navigation menu on the left inside Slack. Set notification preferences for a specific Slack channel<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You probably have some channels which you care less about than others, but you can\u2019t leave them completely. That\u2019s just the nature of office communication, whether your team is remote or not.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best thing?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Slack allows you to set notification preferences for different channels in Slack. Set keyword notifications in Slack<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There may be certain topics or keywords you\u2019re interested in following on Slack, such as an important project\/task you\u2019re working on. You can track updates to these topics, even if they\u2019re discussed in a channel you\u2019re not following.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You just need to set keyword notification in Slack, here\u2019s how to do it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go to <strong>Preferences <\/strong>&gt;&gt;&gt; select <strong>Notifications<\/strong> &gt;&gt;&gt; scroll down to the <strong>Highlight Words section<\/strong> &gt;&gt;&gt; <strong>List all the words<\/strong> you&#8217;d like to get a notification for when mentioned in any of your company&#8217;s Slack channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/GO80VL7F0Kk1F_Va7mVnqGUwgqYFpk08Q4ToBEcjpjohgjO-fT7yPlqtIvsZrPwmJwt5gtYbieB3SyWTqdQ-dV_kGQ-PBXESjE0zUQJjpmYh2tFslnYV-PI8R3FyGkJrvHNk_Yfr\" alt=\"keyword notification\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-9-how-slack-notifications-for-threads-work\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"9_How_Slack_notifications_for_threads_work\"><\/span><strong>9. How Slack notifications for threads work<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting or replying to a thread automatically signs you up to be notified of any new replies. You\u2019ll also see Threads highlighted at the top of your Slack sidebar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can follow a thread even if you didn\u2019t start the thread or replied to a thread. How?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hover over the message and click the three dots icon.
