We started the series talking to our interns to understand how it is like working at Springworks, their ambitions and their thoughts about technology.

In this post of the series, we speak with three of our interns – Shubham Kumar, Siddhant Rai and Tushar Mishra.

Shubham, Siddhant and Tushar joined Springworks in May 2020 as Software Development Engineering interns. They were all hired through a campus placement process at Lovely Professional University last year.

Here’s the discussion:

How is your time going at Springworks?

Shubham:

I’m having a great time at Springworks. The working environment is excellent and inviting. The team helps you at every step of the way to make sure you learn and grow.

Siddhant:

Here I am working together with the team to manage available resources such as hardware, data, and personnel so that deadlines are met. I love the fact that I get to work on live projects.

Tushar:

I get to work side by side with our development team on the product. This way I’ve been able to get an insight into how the SaaS industry and startups function and get a say in the technical decisions. I can approach anyone from the team if there is something I am stuck on.

Describe the projects you’ve been working on.

Shubham:

I am an engineer working on the backend development of Springworks’ Trivia app. I believe that a product’s backend strength is its utility.  You can store and query data, connect with APIs, automate anything.

Tushar:

I work on the backend side of our product, SpringRecruit by writing code in Node.js. I am also interested to work on machine learning in the coming years.

Siddhant

I am a Machine Learning enthusiast who wants to implement it to solve real-world problems. Here, I work with Machine Learning team for one of our clients. I analyze the ML algorithms that can be used to solve a given problem.

Where do you hope to go with this internship, or in your career in general?

Shubham

Working as an intern at Springworks has given me a bundle of technical knowledge that I was seeking for many years. It also helped me with improving communication skills within a team structure and taught me how to take customer requests. It is all preparing me to be a better working professional. I hope to become a sound backend engineer.

Tushar:

Being able to gain industry experience while studying is a huge plus. Springworks has given me this wonderful opportunity. I’ve learned how to write code on the server in Node.js by working on our product, SpringRecruit. I intend to become a backend or a Machine Learning engineer.

Siddhant:

I was always passionate about Machine Learning. Working at Springworks on similar projects has only increased my love for it. I look forward to becoming good at technologies like Python and Tensorflow so as to make intelligent systems.

Why Springworks, and why not any other company?

Shubham:

I wanted my year-long internship to be a rich learning experience. I was seeking a great learning curve along with a good work culture. Springworks’ Glassdoor reviews helped me understand the company culture.

Tushar:

Springworks is a great place to intern as you gain an immense amount of experience. Everyone is treated equally and all of us learn from each other. I’ve experiencedSpringworks’ work and culture and can say only good things about it.

Siddhant:

I received offers from a couple of service-based organizations for the backend development internship role. But my interest was towards Machine Learning. So when Springworks offered me an opportunity in this domain, I simply couldn’t miss it.

What did you learn at Springworks?

Siddhant:

Technical skills I’ve learned working at Springworks range from API creation, Github, AWS and more. Apart from these, I’ve also learned time management, communication skills and overall, how to report things properly.

I intend to apply all learnings from Springworks in the organizations that I work for in the future.

Shubham:

Taking on an internship at Springworks while in college allowed me to work in my desired field, helping me decide if the field is right for me or not.

I now feel more confident than before and think that I can stand out to potential employers in the future.

Tushar:

I got the opportunity to work alongside technical professionals in my chosen area. I have been  learning new skills and adding to my knowledge base while gaining confidence in my abilities.

Internship at Springworks offered me the chance to learn-by-doing in a setting where I am supervised by senior professionals and have the opportunity to achieve my own learning goals.
